Nicté Ordóñez Garza

Dr. Nicté Ordóñez-Garza is a zoologist specializing in the study of mammals, with a focus on the phylogeography, evolutionary dynamics, and pathogen associations of Neotropical small mammals. She currently serves as the Research Museum Collection Manager at the Michigan Pathogen Biorepository at the University of Michigan.

Her interdisciplinary research bridges field biology, molecular techniques, and museum science to better understand biodiversity patterns across the Americas. She has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and is deeply committed to collaborative, cross-disciplinary approaches to science.

Dr. Ordóñez-Garza is a founding member of the Guatemalan Association of Mammalogists and a Board Member of the American Society of Mammalogists (ASM), where she also contributes to multiple committees. She is an active member of the Southwestern Association of Naturalists and serves on the Equity in Scientific Representation team within Global Vistas, working to amplify underrepresented voices and promote inclusive research practices in the life sciences.
